Blah, Blah, Blah!

As I watched President Obama speak at West Point recently, all I could think of was, "Blah, blah, blah!".
If you've followed what this man has said over the past few years, and compared it to what he's done, you can only come to one conclusion: This guy says whatever he thinks will be swallowed by the people he's trying to convince at that time. His words mean nothing!

He has a way of talking that appeals to the uninformed and anyone who isn't paying close attention to what our politicians are saying and doing. (And sadly, most Americans fall into this category.)
His speeches touch on a lot of things that are easy for most people to agree with. -And they let down their guard, thinking, "Hey, this guy thinks like I do."

But then, he may give a speech tomorrow to a group which has beliefs much different than the first group, and he'll say something different than what he said the day before, and he gets this second group thinking he's on their side too. He may be diametrically opposed to some key issues of one group or the other, and he'll never side with them on those issues, but everybody just accepts his empty rhetoric.

Just one example: Obama has often said, "If you have good ideas, whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, I'm willing to listen. My door is always open." Now that sounds very encouraging. -And early in his administration, he did invite top Republicans to the White House to get their opinions. (He opened the door and he listened.) So far, so good.

-But when he was done listening, he told them, "Well, thanks for your opinion, but we won the election, so we're going to do it our way." And after that, for the most part, his meetings have been "closed door" with Democrats, and no Republicans even allowed to attend.

His actions show that his promises to "listen" are meaningless.

I always try to watch or listen to his major speeches because I want to stay informed, but because I know that there's no relation between what he says, and what he stands for, and what he'll do, I have a difficult time suppressing the thought, "Words, just words. Blah, blah, blah!".
